What is PACE?
PACE Rebuilds a Student's Cognitive Skills Foundation for Learning Processing and Cognitive Enhancement (PACE) programme was developed to train cognitive learning skils. It is what many affectionately refer to as "mental boot camp." 17 years ago, the founder of PACE, Dr. Ken Gibson worked together with a group of professionals from a variety of disciplines (including neuro-psychology, specialists in visioand auditory processing, as well as educators) to find a method in helping students learn more easier and more efficiently.
PACE is an intense, proven training method that strengthens underlying cognitive skills. The programme enhances learning skills and trains the student's entire learning system.
PACE develops:
- Attention
- Processing Speed
- Comprehension
- Reasoning
- Memory and more
Who will benefit from PACE?
- High or average performers who want to perform mental activities faster, efficiently or better than before; and
- Below average performers with learning difficulties.
What is the PACE Strategy?
An initial assessment helps us determine if there are difficulties in a student's processing skills. A training programme will then be developed to meet the child's individual needs. The student will work on specific goals with a professional trainer conducting carefully sequenced activities to strengthen weak areas and bring the learning system up to par. This training is designed to achieve maximum results in the shortest period of time.
1. Condensed Length
The PACE programme is a 12-week, intense, 1-on-1, cognitive training programme that corrects and enhances learning skills. PACE makes significant changes in only 12 weeks. This is extremely important because the STUDENT MUST SEE CHANGES! With changes in his or her performance, it will rise the student's self esteem. This encourages the student to want to improve his/her skills even more.
2. Intense Sessions
1-on-1 training is extremely important. There are 2 reasons. First, is immediate feedback. When the student does something correctly, he/she is praised. When the student makes an error, he/she is made aware of it so that it can be corrected immediately for faster learning. Second, is sequencing where the programme is personalised to the student's deficiencies and needs.
3. Parental Involvement
To help reduce cost and ensure we're getting the maximum amount of change in the shortest time possible, we require parental involvement. This allows us to get extra 1-on-1 training for the student's weakest skills. It also helps build-and often repairs- family relationships.
